Benefits of joining CMP

VARIED AND CHALLENGING ROLES

From your first day at CMP, you will be assigned a wide variety of tasks in diverse companies and industries. You will receive close support from your fellow team members, who will help you settle in, actively assisting with your professional and personal development.

We welcome new colleagues who are excited about our business, who enjoy active participation in corporate restructuring, and who want to develop their expertise in business analysis and strategic implementation.

ONGOING DEVELOPMENT

Since an entrepreneurial mindset has many different aspects, we provide our staff with continuous education using a range of different methods. For example, we combine our on-the-job training with a well-structured mentoring program. Given the variety of tasks and the close collaboration with experienced colleagues, new staff will quickly become familiar with key areas, such as acquisition processes, business management, corporate restructuring, and project management. During this comprehensive training, you will soon be given responsibility for selected small-scale projects. You will also receive training on job-related subjects and methodology.

FLAT HIERARCHIES

CMP relies on flat hierarchies and short chains of command. This ensures that assessments and suggestions are quickly shared with other colleagues. Our culture of open and respectful discussion in small project teams usually leads to quick, effective, and lasting solutions. And our doors are always open for tips and advice at every level of the business.

GENUINE TEAMWORK

The first thing you’ll notice when you join CMP is the cohesive nature of the team. Everyone is pulling in the same direction, with mutual respect and understanding, and is always ready to help each individual to grow based on their particular interests and skills. Most of our team members have been with CMP for many years. They are happy to share their knowledge and experience wherever it is required. Ultimately, this environment breeds the innovative solutions that help our portfolio companies thrive.

ATTRACTIVE LOCATION

CMP is based in the heart of Berlin, directly on the famous Kurfürstendamm. This global city offers a wealth of attractions, including culture, leisure, and sports.

WE TRAIN UNIVERSITY GRADUATES TO BE LEADERS.

Business Analyst

For the first two to three years, new graduates are employed in a Business Analyst role. Tasks here include business plan development, market and competitor research, and implementation of initial change measures within selected portfolio companies.

Associate

Promotion to Associate brings additional responsibility. You will have the opportunity to lead selected sub-projects, e.g., due diligence on foreign locations, management of the project office (where all corrective projects are brought together), or the organization and implementation of workshops in portfolio companies.

Senior Associate

Senior Associates are responsible for initial small-scale investments, e.g., an add-on acquisition or a new location. You will also be prepared for management roles through increasingly complex challenges and systematic training and development.

Investment Manager

After six or seven years, you will be eligible for promotion to Investment Manager and, thereafter, to Investment Director and Partner. This career path is the rule, not the exception, and you’ll find that many team members who originally joined as interns are now full-fledged Partners. As an Investment Manager, you will lead acquisition projects and have many opportunities to develop your leadership skills.

Investment Director

As an Investment Director, you will be responsible for deal flow and the investment process as a whole. You will coordinate the various service providers and negotiate with stakeholders, such as owners, banks, unions, customers, and suppliers. After completing a transaction, the Investment Director typically assumes a managerial role in the portfolio company and is then responsible for implementing the change project in tandem with colleagues and employees. At the end of the holding period, the Investment Director is responsible for managing the sale.

Partner

Partners have the same responsibilities as an Investment Director and represent our funds on the supervisory boards of the various portfolio companies. In addition, Partners are co-owners of CMP and thus jointly responsible for development of the company and its operations.

FAQs FOR OUR TEAM.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT AS A NEW HIRE AT CMP?

New staff is assigned regular tasks from day one, e.g., working on new transactions or an on-site role with one of our portfolio companies. Whatever you’ll be doing, you can always count on support from your team. In most cases, our Analysts and Associates work closely with an Investment Director or Partner. This ensures you gain valuable insights in the relevant areas while accelerating your professional growth.

WHAT IS THE SCOPE FOR DEVELOPING MY CAREER AT CMP?

University graduates usually join CMP as a Business Analyst. The next steps on our career path are Associate, Investment Manager, Investment Director, and, ultimately, Partner. Approximately half of our current Investment Directors and Partners followed precisely this path after joining CMP immediately after university.

Each team member is assigned a range of tasks that match their current stage of development. The more solid experience you have, the more complex your various tasks will be. And the more complex your tasks, the more responsibility you will have within the project. In addition to on-the-job training, new staff is mentored by an Investment Director or Partner. Together, you will assess your professional development and drive your future progress.

In addition, all staff receives continuous internal training to improve their skills in the acquisition and management of portfolio companies. This is augmented by personality coaching and new methodological skills.

WHAT’S SO SPECIAL ABOUT WORKING AT CMP?

Since many of our staff members have been with us for many years, they have a very strong bond with CMP. The sheer variety of the work we do contributes significantly to this commitment. All team members work in our Berlin office on corporate transactions and in on-site roles based on their respective areas of expertise.

When a team completes a particular transaction, it is then responsible for implementing the investment hypothesis and the associated restructuring measures. As a result, new staff quickly acquires a detailed understanding of a wide variety of tasks across many different industries as they deal with new challenges on a daily basis.
